First AI-Discovered Drug to Extend Lifespan in a Whole Organism
Cortex Discovery is proud to announce a groundbreaking achievement at the crossroad of longevity research and AI-powered drug discovery. Introducing: CortexW1, the first AI-discovered compound to extend the lifespan of a whole organism (a microscopic worm, Caenorhabditis elegans). The compound was shown to induce a median lifespan increase of over 33%.

Our team used a deep learning-based QSAR (Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship) model for virtual high-throughput screening. The model was trained on human data focused on mTOR inhibition—a critical pathway related to autophagy and conserved across species.
The neural network’s predictions were used to select a dozen compounds for lab validation. Out of the 4 compounds tested so far, CortexW1 showed a stunning 33% increase in the median lifespan of the worms (logrank p-value < 0.001).
The new compound’s activity was confirmed using Ora Biomedical's WormBot-AI, a high-throughput longevity interventions testing platform. Ora Biomedical is a longevity biotech company led by Mitchell Lee and co-founded by Brian Kennedy and Matt Kaeberlein that specializes in longevity, intervention discovery and validation.
